life’s little moments

1// Essie nails2// Ollie’s cute and he knows it3// This is my home renovation look4// Downing hot dogs ’cause we’re clean eaters and all5// Everyone loves a Baby Jade plant6// My “work station” in all its gloryWe bought a townhouse in Florida to rent out {we’re official HGTV-ing our lives} so our Memorial Day weekend was spent painting ceilings and walls… and picking out appliances and a kitchen countertop at Lowe’s {PLEASE don’t make me go to Lowe’s again, Brandon}. Question. Why does HGTV make everything seem so easy? I wasn’t even doing heavy lifting and my entire body hurts. I am basically a professional painter so I bet my vigorous painting movements strained a couple of muscles. At least the walls look damn good. I painted my nails today even though they’ll get ruined the next time we work on the house. Last night I came home with paint on […]

guest post: curated by kelly {turks and caicos}

Looking at other blogger’s travel photos is one of my favorite things to do. And the more I read about their adventures, the longer my wanderlust list seems to get. I can guarantee your travel list will become a little longer after you read about my sponsor’s wonderful honeymoon dream vacation in Turks and Caicos! ********** Hello there, Postcards from Rachel readers! I’m Kelly from Curated by Kelly and my blog is all about my favorite things. That means you’ll see a lot of variety from stories about our adoption and family, jewelry from my shop, parties, books I’ve read and more. I also love to do giveaways on my blog and on Facebook. To keep with Rachel’s theme, I’m going to share about our honeymoon to the Turks and Caicos. When choosing a honeymoon destination we went back and forth between skiing and the beach since we were getting […]

guest post: found love now what {struggling to fall in love… with paris}

When Belinda from Found Love Now What mentioned her idea for a guest post, I was thrilled. I’ve talked before about getting lost in cities and how it makes traveling more enjoyable and her post is about just that. Wandering around Paris and falling in love. ********** I wanted to share the story of how I fell in love. Not with my husband {that is on the blog here if you are interested}. But how I fell in love with Paris. I expected to stroll the streets of Paris and immediately find inspiration surrounded by such history and beauty. From the Louvre to Versailles, it never happened. I was frustrated and overwhelmed by the crowds, tired from walking all day and simply feeling lack luster. The days ticked by in Paris, and I was wondering what was wrong with me. Why, oh why wasn’t I falling head over heels in […]

guest post: sweet pea sylvie {a day in the life of baby marley}

After being on the road since Saturday afternoon, we’ve finally made it to Florida! We’re spending the night in a gorgeous bed & breakfast in St. Augustine and tomorrow we’ll be on our way to our apartment, which is roughly two hours away. You would think we’d have time to settle in after our move across the country — but no — our lives are hectic as of late. B will be flying out on Saturday for his grad school orientation and I’ll be flying out to my parents’ house for a week. Eventually we’ll unpack our boxes and bags. While we’re enjoying wine and our puppies {and the show Strange Addictions — eek!}, I’m happy to introduce you to Sweet Pea Sylvie and her adorable baby boy, Marley. Everything about her blog draws me in — the style, the beautiful writing, the photos — and of course, her parenting stories. Speaking […]

sponsor spotlight! and depression after finishing a good book

I just finished the books Divergent, Free Four {yes, I bought a chapter from Four’s view for 99 cents}, and Insurgent — and now my life has no meaning. If I can’t read Veronica Roth books all day, what am I supposed to do? Dishes? Laundry? That’s no fun. Yes, I have a problem. Because when I really get into a series I have to finish the books as soon as possible. And then I realize I’ve made a mistake and I’m sad. We went to a Coyotes hockey game last night, thanks to Jessa from Life of a Sports Wife, so that made everything a little bit better. But I won’t be happy until Fall 2013 {that’s when the new book is scheduled to be released}. Speaking of Jessa, you guys should check out her blog. Because being a sports wife is way more interesting than being a temporary housewife […]

guest post: you are the roots {all about babymoons}

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had a few friends over for dinner and I made my first turkey ever. I figured that cooking the bird would result in a disaster and as soon as B cut into it, it would burst open and be extremely dry {Christmas Vacation dinner scene, anyone?} — but somehow, between the roasting bag and everything random I poured in it to keep it moist, it worked out. And by worked out, I mean it was delicious {nbd}. Anyway…Today I have a very special treat for you all! Lindsay from You Are The Roots is here to discuss babymoons, which I had never even thought about before. I can tell you this, though… I definitely plan on taking one. And isn’t her little boy adorable?———————–Hi Postcards from Rachel readers! My name is Lindsay and I blog over at You Are The Roots! I’m a 26 year […]

new affiliate: shabby apple

Happy Thursday, everyone! I’m so excited to introduce the newest sponsor at Postcards from Rachel — Shabby Apple! Shabby Apple is a gorgeous online boutique that carries fun clothing, unique jewelry and other accessories that are to die for. I’m already a huge fan of online shopping {much to my husband’s dismay} and Shabby Apple definitely feeds my addiction because you can find everything stylish on their website. Here are a few of my favorites:  This purple ruffled bodice suit is in the Shabby Apple Amalfi Coast Swim Collection and I so wish I would have owned it for our trip to the Amalfi Coast last month. I can imagine lounging on the beach in this beauty. I’m always searching for fun pencil skirts because they go with everything and this pattern high waist skirt is on sale! I love that it has lots of color because it’s much more eye-catching than the usual solid black or […]
