They’re basically sex-crazed pests that stay attached to each other in flight {sexy time} and manage to smash on every windshield in the area. We decided to get our car washed on Sunday after zip lining, and by lunch time, there were insect carcasses covering our front bumper once again. I’ve never experienced this many insects before so I’m hoping they disappear soon, but who knows. At least we don’t have to […]

I’ll add the link-up code/button to this post on Thursday {and tweet it} so that people can add their shenanigans. I love reading about everyone’s weeks… and pretty photos are fun, too!These past seven days have been filled with lots of activities. I had another blate with Lisette {love her!} which included a waterfront lunch and shopping at my favorite store, LOFT. And we also discussed one of our biggest blate issues: we never take photos! Sure, I took a […]

1// Java Chip frappuccinos are my favorite2// Malcolm enjoying his toys3// Julep “Stefani” & Essie “Set in Stones”4// More Quinoa! Recipe to comeIt’s been warming up in Florida and the sun has been shining every day since last weekend {no more gloominess!} so I’ve been enjoying frozen Starbucks drinks… much to my husband’s dismay. He prefers our Nespresso machine but since we’re waiting on a replacement, I’ve been buying overpriced coffee drinks. ;) Sorry!I miss certain things about Scottsdale/Phoenix but it’s nice to be surrounded by beautiful water instead of the desert. Something about the palm trees and the ocean makes me strive to be somewhat healthier. We have been making a lot of quinoa and fish dishes lately, and yes… we completed our third day of the Insanity workout. I told a few bloggers I’d give short updates every once in a while so here goes: I CAN’T move. I thought […]

life’s little moments {easter weekend}

Happy Easter! I hope everyone had a wonderful day with family and friends. B’s family stayed with us this weekend and we enjoyed meals on the beach and a few games of Jenga. One thing we learned? Our entire family cheats during this game, yet we’re still terrible. Laughter and shaky hands don’t mix well apparently. In other news, Ollie is teething and has basically turned into a demon. He’s like the love child of two Twilight vampires. Luckily I haven’t experienced the little man’s wrath because B has been the main victim (aka chew toy), but I have been stepping on quite a few baby teeth and wow, those things are sharp. The shelter recorded Oliver’s date of birth as October 10/22/2012, but I’m thinking he may be younger than that since he’s still losing teeth. Who knows. I still find it funny that we traded in gloomy Scotland […]

life’s little moments

This weekend wasn’t the best. Mainly because Malcolm got into trouble yet again. Even though he’s only a year and a half, Malcolm has experienced more things than most. Bad things, unfortunately. While we were living in Scotland and hanging out on a beach near the North Sea, he decided to lick a jellyfish. It caused a horrible allergic reaction and he was foaming from the mouth, lethargic, confused and basically unable to move. I was almost positive he would die but luckily we got him to the emergency vet in time. While we were living in Arizona, he gobbled up a fajita with onions. Again, I was afraid for his life, but we made it to the emergency vet and he was given fluids and medication.However…This time Malcolm experienced a snake bite. I was walking both of the dogs alone because B was on a call for his MBA program, and it […]

life’s little moments

Have you ever had the urge to blog in the bathtub? I did tonight, but 1. I don’t like blogging on the iPad, and 2. Bringing the MacBook near water would cause my husband to have a panic attack. I’m already accident-prone so purposely bringing a laptop near a relatively large body of water is out of the question. Lately, I’ve been craving everything comfortable and relaxing (like bathtubs) because I am tired. All. The. Time. I’ve diagnosed myself with either lyme disease, thanks to our vast array of dirty foster dogs in Arizona, or travel fog. Travel fog is when you drive across the country to a new home and instead of settling in and unpacking, you fly to the Midwest the next day. Then you travel back to Florida a week later and arrive back home at 2 AM. Then around midnight the next day, you pick up […]

life’s little moments

We made it to San Antonio! My iPhone tells me that since leaving Scottsdale on Saturday, we’ve been in the car for a total of 14 hours. Since we don’t need to be in Florida until the 28th, I’d say we’re on track. We plan on checking out the Riverwalk in a few minutes and then we’re off to Austin to have lunch, and Dallas to spend the night with some family members. The best part about making plans and hotel reservations on the road is that we can decide what we want to do in the moment. The worst part is that sometimes it’s difficult to find a hotel that will allow two dogs to stay. So far, so good. Since I have wifi right now, I want to share some photos from the Revive Conference: Let me just tell you that the speakers were wonderful! Ashely with The Shine […]

life’s little moments

I’m going to keep this short and sweet because this weekend we have been up to our necks in ticks. I’ve turned into an expert tick remover overnight (can I put that on a resume when my housewife stint is over?), and if I never see another bloody, bloated, disgusting tick in my life, I’ll be a happy girl. Have you ever removed a burrowed tick with your favorite Avon eyebrow tweezers? It’s not a pretty sight. Making sure you get the head completely out is a bitch and it’s even more disturbing when the tick has a piece of your new dog’s flesh in its mouth, as if its taking away a souvenir from its short-lived stay. We’ve fostered dogs who have been in sad shape before so I was expecting maybe one tick, but not three massive ones that look like they’re about to explode from blood consumption. […]
