project home | stylish indoor rugs

Hi! We’re back from our quick trip to our townhouse in the DC ‘burbs (I love saying that because I never thought we would live in the suburbs) and just in time for a Boston blizzard! I’m trying to not feel disappointed that we’re back in this lovely city, but you guys, I have six boxes of unopened Pampered Chef goodies from our bridal shower and wedding — and Chanel Chance perfume in another container. I’ve been dousing my body with DKNY Be Delicious for the last 2 1/2 years and although it’s a pleasant scent, it doesn’t smell like me, if that makes any sense. It’s like I’m finding myself once again because of this storage unit (cue cheesy pop song and dance party).

We were able to paint our living room gorgeous grey and all of the walls of our kitchen are almost mint-colored which makes me really giddy, and since we’ll soon be consumed with decorating the entire place, I’m starting a new post series called “project home”. I hope to share our renovation ideas, DIY projects, and decor purchases every Friday so you get an idea of what we enjoy. Speaking of this blog…

I’m trying not to worry about it, but I’ve noticed that I’m at a weird transition point with my website. I still plan on sharing our travels and ex-expatness, but I have a feeling this space will turn into more of a true lifestyle blog in the coming months. What does that mean? I’m not sure (what is a lifestyle blog anyway?), but I hope you’ll stick with me. And hey, for those of you wanting more wanderlust in your life, there’s always a possibility that we’ll take another assignment abroad. This makes me happy because the unknown can be both annoying and exciting.

And now for some indoor rugs I’m loving:

Perfect indoor rugs for your home
1. Ikea | 2. West Elm | 3. World Market | 4. Wayfair | 5. West Elm

The first thing you should know about these rugs is that I own three of them. I keep telling Brandon that rugs make a room and tie everything together, and then I buy another one. It’s a problem. I’ve always been drawn to colors, textures and patterns that remind me of our travels, so I have 2, 4, and 5 for our living room, dining room, and the hall area. I will end up spending more money on rugs than furniture and I’m totally okay with that. I also want a faux fur rug to layer in our living room but I’ll hold off for now.

Do you like indoor rugs? Which one is your favorite?

Rugs make any space look unique. I love it!

I love decorating and making your home feel nice and cozy! I really like rug #2 and #5

Agreed. The best part about moving into a new place is making it your own.

Rachel, I have the same exact problem! Everywhere we travel, I always buy a rug for our someday home (since our tiny rental cannot accomodate the rug treasure trove I have accumulated). I am smitten with number 4! Also, I have no idea what a lifestyle blog really entails but if it’s more glimpses into your life, I’m all on board! PS: The DC ‘burbs hold a special place in my heart. That’s where I met my husband. What a fun place to live!

We were SO close to buying a rug in Turkey but decided against it. The salesman kept pressuring us and we hated it. You should post about your rug collection at some point. I’d love to see all of them. :)

And yep, I think the new blog direction will be more about our lives!

Oooh! Decorating a home is so much fun! Rug number four is gorgeous!

A little too much fun! ;) I stalk furniture websites all day now.

I simply LOVE rug number 2! I’ve been in love with b&w lately.

Me too! And this pattern is so unique!

Rug 4 is so fresh and original. Love it!

That’s the one I’m putting in our dining room. :)

I love all of these, but #1 is def my fave. I’ve seen a few people who layer that specific rug over furniture like on the the back of a couch or chair, and I just love it. It adds such a fun element of coziness.

Yes! That’s exactly what I want to do. I think it’ll look so cute over one of our leather chairs.

    Hi Rachel!
I have been an avid reader of your fabulous blog for quite some time now but have always been too shy to post a comment to you! But I felt really compelled to let you know that I love your blog and I’m super excited for the redirection. I’m a fellow wanderluster and when I finally return home (to Queensland, Australia) in a little over two months time, I will be going through a lot of what you are about to embark on – decorating your home, DIY, renovations etc. I will definitely keep reading and I look forward to gathering some of my own inspirations for our new home from this wonderful blog! P.s. already loving your new series!

I’m looking forward to your ‘transition’ on the blog. Mine will be less diy and more travel once we sell our house this spring and start living the nomadic life! I totally understand ya- but what an exciting journey!

blog about whatever makes you happy – that’s my motto and I love my blog. This is also why I love the title, lifestyle blogging, I can blog about anything and not feel like I owe anything to anyone ;)
