weekly wishes #2

Weekly Wishes
Did everyone have a good weekend? I hope so! We’re currently in St. Augustine, Florida enjoying a bed and breakfast with lots of character, eating good food, and soaking up some sunshine. And of course we brought Ollie and Malcolm. Our dogs have been in more hotels than I’d care to admit.

Since I’m joining the Weekly Wishes link-up once again, let’s discuss last week’s goals.

1. Yoga every morning. I drank coffee and read blogs every morning. Does that count? Let’s try this goal again. 2. Start packing for Boston. I’m making progress by going through all of my clothes and getting organized. It’s a good start. 3. Malcolm’s birthday. I didn’t bake anything since we were running errands all day, but I did take some cute photos and my husband totally sang happy birthday to him. It was hilarious. 4. Finish my first photography post. I did it! If you missed my first photography post you can find it here. I love the tips I included because they pertain to DSLRs and point and shoot cameras.

And now for this week’s goals:

1. Consume all of the food in our pantry. Have you ever tried moving a bunch of food to another state? It’s a pain in the butt. I plan on making a list of everything in our pantry and finding new recipes to use up these ingredients. It’ll be more convenient for us this way, plus we won’t have to be wasteful.

2. Finalize my new blog design. I’ve wanted a new blog design since March and the time has finally come! I’ve been working with a wonderful designer and we’re almost finished tweaking the pages. I can’t wait to debut the new look!

3. Clean out my inbox. This is a constant struggle for me because I’m terrible at responding to emails. If you don’t hear from me for a while, it’s not because I’m being rude, I promise. I’m just slow and overwhelmed. Sorry!
4. Start a new book. While I’m patiently awaiting the third book in the Divergent series, I need something else to occupy my time. Any suggestions?

What are your weekly wishes?

Linking up: Melyssa

Maybe setting achieveable goals is the way to go, like yoga once this week :) If theres no hope of being able to do it all you’re just putting pressure on yourself!

wonderful wishes, Rachel! Eating all the food in the pantry is so hard -good luck! When we moved I ended up giving away probably $150 doll hairs worth of food because I’m a food hoarder that never eats what she buys. shoot. You’ll be better though!

And double good luck on that Inbox! Emails can be so intimidating!

Oh I love this idea! Let’s see..

    1. Get to the gym 5 days this week (and don’t skip out on cardio).
    2. Put together my video montage of my girl’s trip to Vegas (which has been on my To Do list since June).
    3. Get to bed at reasonable hour. My sleep schedule has been dreadful lately.

Thanks for making me write down my goals for this week Rachel! There’s no slacking now!

    Cheers,
    Heather

I can’t see what your new design will look like!! Hmm…my weekly wishes are…

    1. to have a good last week with my nanny babies
    2. start shopping around for textbooks for the semester
    3. pay off my last class

On the book front, I feel head over heels in love with “The Girl Who Chased the Moon” by Sarah Addison Allen. Read it! I just finished “The Peach Keeper” also by her, and it was really good, just not as fabulous as The Girl Who…

Let me know if you read it! I’d love to hear your feedback! :)

I also recently read “Saving CeeCee Honeycutt” which was also fabulous!

Way to go on most of your wishes last week! :)))) And it seems like coffee and blogs seems to be my kinda substitute for exercise, too, haha.

And it sounds like you’ve got some exciting things going on for this upcoming week!! This is the second time I’ve heard about Divergent… hmm, I may need to look more into it. And I feel ya on the inbox thing… I let mine get kinda cray cray.

Well, happy vacationing! Hope it’s wonderful! :)

I am struggling with getting back into my morning yoga routine as well. How about we keep each other accountable. I am excited to see your new design. I am slowly changing things around my blog as well. Oh a great book to read would be the lost girls. Its a book about three friends who take the year off to travel around the world. Excellent read.

I’m excited to see your new blog design! I’m sure it will be awesome. I’m currently trying to start packing to get ready to move back to school, which is rough. So I could only imagine the struggle of packing up to go to another state!

Good luck with your goals :)

I see you already have a Pinterest account! Heh. There’s lots of recipes inspiration there (I guess you already know), so coming up with the dishes will be easy peasy.

I’m not an avid reader, but I’m trying to get reading a part of my habit. Which genre(s) do you prefer? I’m a hopeless romance. If you haven’t read The Fault In Our Stars (by John Green), you should! Right now I’m trying to finish up Puppy Love (by Frauke Scheunemann).

    Good luck!

Looking forward to seeing the new blog design!! I love the one you currently have but change is always good :). I’ve been wanting a new design too but Ill get there!!

Now a question that has nothing to do with this post, where is your favorite place to travel to? We are looking to find our next vacation spot and are having a hard time picking. I thought asking someone like you would be a good start!!!

    Thank you!!

Have you read The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare? If you liked Divergent, you will LOVE this series. It’s up there with Harry Potter in my vast collection. That’s saying something for me.

I’m waiting for the last book in the Divergent Series, too! I am dying to find out what happens next! I hope the movies will be as good as the books.

Right now I’m reading Wild by Cheryl Strayed. It’s about a woman who lost herself after the untimely death of her mother and who decides to hike the Pacific Crest Trail solo as a way to find herself again. It’s not YA lit or anything, but I’m enjoying it so far.

My Mum has the occasional ‘Eat-Up Supper’, which is made up of every meal she has eaten throughout the week when she needs to clear out the fridge/cupboards (and she is not even moving anywhere), so I sympathise witht he difficulty of trying to use up what food you have left!

Have you ever tried Do You Yoga? It’s sooo good! And boy, I’ve got plenty of book recs if you need on my blog! My most recent favorite is called Where’d You Go Bernadette–it’s genius! Oh and I can’t wait to see your new design. Good luck on all your wishes and have a stellar week! xx

Is it just me or is everyone moving in the blogging world? Maybe it’s just because I am currently moving that I am more focused on other people’s moves. I ended up having a big come and get it with our food because you are right, moving food is a pain in the butt and I wasn’t bringing that stuff overseas!

Slay that inbox and I’m looking forward to seeing what your new blog will look like. :)

I am very excited to see your new blog design! Woohoo!

My inbox is almost always cleaned out. I get anxious if there are a lot of emails in there. :)

Good luck with your wishes this week!!!

I’d think you should read the Chaos Walking trilogy. They’re so good! Admittedly they are for 15-17 year olds approximately but they are a very good read.

I do a pantry purge once or twice a year. It’s always good to use up that old food!

I can’t wait to see your new blog design!

Also, have you been able to access her website for the link up? I haven’t been able to all day.

I’m waiting impatiently for Divergent too! If you like that type of series, I’d highly recommend the Selection (I absolutely LOVED these books, and I didn’t think I would), Delirium, and Matched. They all have the same dystopian theme to them. I have a thousand other recommendations too, so let me know if you need more!

I actually just found your blog, and I think the blog design is adorable! Can’t wait to see what you come up with though ;)

    xo,

I can’t wait to hear how you eat all the ingredients in your pantry! lol

Have you read Where’d you go Bernadette? Love. It’s easy and fun, but there’s a lesson in there that’s beautiful. I fell in love with the characters! :)

I LOVE doing a pantry purge. We aren’t moving yet, but I get lazy about going to the grocery store and turn it into a cabinet challenge where I work as hard as I can to make what my husband considers a meal from the riff raff.

o0o0 can’t wait for the new blog design! :)

I am reading the serious of Emily Griffin books (sequel to the book/movie something borrowed) as well as the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, Revenge Wears Prada.
I have about a dozen books in my que to read.

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/18308527680468511026 Melanie Montgomery

I’m waiting for the third book in the Divergent series too!
Im reading the 5th book in the Mortal Instruments series to distract me.

Maybe you’ve read it already but have you heard of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon? It’s fantasy/ romance/ historical fiction and it’s amazing!

I’m loving An Unexpected Guest – it’s about an expat! I think you’ll like it :)

and good luck with all the preparations!

I’m excited to see your new design! And I have to say, drinking coffee and reading blogs (i.e. what I’m doing right now) is pretty relaxing, so it could be a good substitute for yoga. ;)

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/15491893490987800723 Kayli Schattner

I can’t wait to see your new blog design- I’m sure it will be lovely. I’d love to start doing yoga every morning. I only do it every so often but with all of the stress I have going on lately I almost have begun to start craving it!

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/00461997574766486746 Shaylynn… a girl, a story, a blog

A Fault In Our Stars.. That’s my only book suggestion for you, as of now. You’ve probably read it.. And about eating your entire pantry, I could do it for you, I’m like a whale when needed, only not a killer whale. I’m the nice kind.

Also, the inbox issue? I ignore mine and then on nights like this I blog stalk and ignore it even more. I’m the worst blogger.

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/17093380580591874397 Nino

Good luck with eating everything in your pantry. I’ve found that is never as easy as it sounds. There always seeems to be one or two random ingredients that cannot be used without something else that then needs to be bought just to fill up the pantry again. Haha!

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/06343292034419359802 Ashley

Good luck on your wishes for the week!! I’m completely jealous that you’re in St. Augustine, by the way :) I lived in Jacksonville for 12 years, and we made trips to St. Augustine all the time. My husband has never been, and I’m dying to take him for a trip! Also, I am horrible about responding to emails too – glad I’m not alone :)

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/02227163395973219648 Amy Lee Scott

I just pre-ordered book three and I CANNOT wait! Also, major luck to you in cleaning out your pantry. We’re about to go on a quick weekend trip and are patting ourselves on the back for cleaning out our fridge before we go. This is totally unheard of in our house and we are proud. I’m participating in Weekly Wishes for the first time and am SO enjoying exploring blogs like yours!
