food truck wars | melbourne, fl

Can I just tell you all how much I love food trucks? Especially when they serve chicken and waffles, lobster rolls, cupcakes and other delicious snacks. Melbourne/Palm Bay, Florida holds a food truck event every month and we decided to check it out in June after Brandon got off work. Even though it had just stopped raining, there were many, many trucks and locals stuffing their faces. I quickly joined in because this is one event I will never turn down.

The chicken and waffles truck was the most popular there so I had to wait in a long line for around twenty minutes. It was completely worth it!

We were surprised to see all types of pets at the event. Not only did people bring their beloved pups, but we also saw a few people holding rabbits. Yes… pet rabbits. Since Malcolm and Ollie were bred to go after small animals, I don’t think we’ll be bringing their crazy terrier butts to the next food truck wars.

Durham has over 40 food trucks floating around the city on any given day and they do a food truck rodeo once/twice a month. So awesome, isn’t it. Those chicken and waffles look ridiculous.

You should never turn down a good ol’ food truck rodeo! I am loving the revival of the food truck and the delicious foods that they create. However, I have yet to see a chicken n’ waffles truck. If I could cook, I would definitely create a chicken n’ waffles truck in my town!

    So. Much. Food. Envy.
I love love love food trucks.
Such great food and they always bring a really communal atmosphere with them.
People shed their inhibitions and chat to strangers and it’s fab.
Food markets in London were my fave.
Thailand has some great food stalls but good god do i miss waffles, and sausages, and pulled pork buns and burgers and… *slips off into food daydream*

Okay, I have NEVER eaten out of a food truck. Like, I’ve visited booths and stuff at carnivals and festivals, but I’ve never eaten out of a food truck. Apparently this is something that needs to be fixed.

  • Casey Martin

We have a whole food truck thing going on here in Portland and I’ve never actually tried them… some are supposed to be good though! Your food looked amazing!

  • Haley

Yuuuuum. Our area is just starting to get into food trucks, thankfully! Waffles and chicken-heard of it, never tried it!

  • Bonnie Rose

You know I’ve never had Chicken and Waffles? Is it just a savory sort of dish? Do you eat it all together like a sandwich? I’ve only really heard it mentioned on tv and films. Food trucks are awesome, i loved the ones on the North Shore in Hawaii. The Shrimp truck and the Thai truck were my favourites and their food I often crave while here in England. Yum.

Ps. What a cute portrait of you too!

I wish Provence would hop on the food truck band wagon. There are pizza vans, and vans that make sandwiches and kebabs but that’s it. I want a chicken and waffle van :)
