san antonio, tx

We only spent one night in San Antonio when we were driving from Arizona to Florida, but we tried to see as much as possible. Since our car was jam-packed with valuables, we found a boutique hotel with a secure parking lot. Hotel Indigo is located in downtown San Antonio and is diagonal from the Alamo so the location is perfect for sightseeing. The rooms were clean, nicely decorated and had a lot of character {I love exposed brick}. There was also a small restaurant and bar located on the ground floor. Since the hotel is in a historic building, the rooms are on the smaller side. The hotel was perfect for the two of us and the dogs {another plus}, but it might be a bit tight for a larger family.

The majority of our time was spent walking around the Alamo and exploring the Riverwalk. We had delicious breakfast burritos at the Original Mexican Restaurant & Bar which is surprising because it has horrible reviews on Urbanspoon. So just remember that the breakfast is fine {especially the chorizo burrito}… everything else apparently sucks.

The last time I was in San Antonio was years and years ago with my family. I remember taking a boat ride at night and visiting all of the fun shops. We didn’t have time for all of that, but there’s always next time.

P.S. Be sure to check out my guest post on Dena’s blog. I’m discussing some of
my favorite things to do in Ibiza, Spain!

Love the Riverwalk and San Antonio! My husband and I went for an overnight a few days before Christmas while my parents kept the kiddos. It’s a great place for a little getaway!

Beautiful. As many times as I’ve traveled thru or lived in Texas (Del Rio), we never got a chance to explore San Antonio and I’m still bummed! Great pictures!

I’ve never been to San Antonio, though the backgrounds of your pictures look rather familiar because I have relatives who’ve been. Maybe on one of our trips to Dallas we’ll take a detour.

Yeay! I’m originally from South Padre Island (about 4 hours south of there), but my brother, best friend, aunt, and cousins all love there so I visit often. Next time you’re there, visit Mi Tierra for great Mexican food and a wonderful Mexican market.

My hometown! San Antonio is a great city. We were married down on the Riverwalk two years ago. I’m missing Tex-Mex like crazy now that we are in London. So glad I found your blog.
