let’s get to know each other

I’ve noticed that I have some new followers around these parts so I’d like to formally introduce myself again and get to know you, too.

I’m Rachel and I’m married to B. We have a West Highland White Terrier named Malcolm and a Dorkie named Oliver (we like sophisticated names). No kids yet — mainly because I’m terrified of giving birth. The horror!

It’s difficult for us to smile like normal people…

I’m originally from the Midwest and B is from the Midwest and Florida. We met in Washington, DC while we were both working there. We like to tell people that we met at a happy hour (even though it was later in the night) because that usually sounds better than saying, “Yeah we met at a bar and we were both a bit tipsy.” Especially when some of our friends and former colleagues met their significant others/spouses at church. Anyway… It was clearly love at first sight. Who could resist this face?

Sometimes I can’t get over how good I look

A few weeks after we got married in August 2011, we packed up our apartment, put everything in storage, and moved to Aberdeen Scotland for B’s job. I must admit, getting married and then moving abroad was one of the most stressful times of my life. But we endured the chaos and I’m so happy we did. We had the opportunity to travel throughout the entire year of living abroad and experienced wonderful things. You can read about some of our trips here.

We moved to Arizona after arriving back in the States last summer and we’ve been here for almost six months. On Saturday we will be packing up our car with our most prized possessions (dogs and a Nespresso machine) to move to Florida for six months, and then it’s off to Massachusetts for… you guessed it. Six months.

I started blogging when we moved to Scotland to keep my friends and family up-to-date and I continue to do so.

How about you? Why did you start blogging?

I’m a new follower! Thanks for the introduction! :) Y’all are super cute! Wow, I don’t know how you handle moving every 6 months, but I’m sure it’s easier when you have the one you love to move with! I lived in Florida for 7 months and at the time I didn’t like it, but I miss it more and more every day!

Welcome! We were in Scotland for a year (thank goodness) because a half a year abroad would have been way too short! Now that we’re back in the States it’s every 6 mo. Sort of annoying. :)

Great get to know you post. =0)
I think I should write one of these too.

Six months seems to be a magic number of months for you two. LOL
I’m glad you started the blog and are continuing it. I’ve loved every post I’ve read here. =D So I’m wondering…Which place has been your favorite to live (so far)?

I love when I follow someone new and the very next day it’s like they knew and decided to do a little “introduction to me” post. You read my mind haha. I think it’s awesome that you get to live in so many amazing new places. But what is B’s job that makes you move so frequently?

Thank you for sharing, what a great post! I’m also a new follower and loved getting to know you! You got to live in Scotland that is incredible, what an adventure! I have never lived anywhere but in MN! My best friend got me into blogging a couple years ago actually, I hadn’t done much with it until this past summer when the same friend came to visit and got me hooked!

Child birth really isn’t that bad… I was nervous for it too.

It’s awesome how you are able to travel and move so often, I have only lived in one state and wish we would have moved around before having out daughter.

I blog to write down my thoughts, feelings and this blog was started as a virtual baby book for my daughter and it is in the process of evolving as she gets older.

Oh and I met my husband at a bar… no shame there!

Hi! We are new followers from the blog hop. We would love a follow in return! It’s nice to “meet” you. We are 3 sisters who blog about our creative ideas. Between the three of us, there are 6 nieces and nephews. Childbirth is not the difficult part. It’s teething, and shots, and tantrums, and sleepless nights, and, and, and…I’m kidding :) Looking forward to more posts from you :)

Been there about ten years ago, but do you have any secret tips to share? Looking forward to reading more about you! =)
