new year, new start {and blogging}

I was hoping to have a brand new post scheduled for January 1st, but after six flights and three states {I’m counting Colorado since we were delayed there multiple times} over the past twelve days, I’m tired. It’s almost noon in the desert, and Malcolm and I are having a hard time moving from the bed. I plan on getting up soon to make a Nespresso, but who knows what I’ll do after that. Decisions, decisions. {Sorry to B if he reads this… he’s at work, slaving away while I’m watching HGTV}.

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to get back to blogging. And to actually enjoy it. I want to start commenting on my favorite blogs again, responding to emails from my readers {because I used to love that} — and instead of telling B that I need to blog, I’d like to say that I want to blog. I also want to focus on quality posts. I don’t know about you, but the New Year makes me feel all powerful and motivated. Like, I can actually cook and craft and be an interesting blogger. Watch out blogging world, I could have some fresh content for you soon!

In other life news, we might have an Arizona end-date soon {it will most likely be around February 22nd} so a few of my posts might be centered around preparing for our move to Florida, and staying in hotel rooms {what we do best}. We’ve decided to drive from Scottsdale to Florida which means overnights in Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, New Orleans and wherever else we decide on. San Antonio River Walk and jambalaya in New Orleans? Yes, please! I have a feeling 2013 is going to be a good year.

What are some of your New Year’s resolutions? Is anyone making changes to their blogs?

    I am totally relating to this post! lol. I got up super late today, and feeling super bad for hubs who had to get up early and go to work today. :( Plus I’m about to go make myself a nespresso. :)

    And I’m with you on the blog! It got neglected a lot this past semester and so its getting revamped starting today! I’m excited for what is to come.

    Happy Wednesday!

    Sounds like you have a lot of exciting stuff coming up! Where in Florida are you moving to? I’m in Orlando! My resolution — to be less frantic. Happy new year!

    I totally agree. It stinks when you start to feel like blogging is a chore. I’m trying to get back into wanting to do it, too. I just feel like I’ve lost inspiration. Hopefully the new year brings me some new inspiration, too. Good luck and happy new year.

    Those are great plans Rachel! YOu can do it :)

    I’m looking forward to reading all about the changes in the new year. I feel the same way about “a fresh start”. I was also contemplating that sometimes I forget to focus on *why* I love blogging (which is because I love writing and being creative). Sometimes I forget and start focusing on what I think my audience would like. Although both intentions are good, I think focusing on what I love will give better results than if I focus on what I think others love. Fiouf! That was long.

    Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family.

    That road trip sounds long but amazing! One of my favorite cities in the states is definitely Austin, I would love to live there someday. I look forward to hearing about your adventures in the new year!

    I feel like reconnecting with my blog is one of my goals too, but somehow I just don’t feel motivated right now. Your road trip from Arizona to Florida sounds like it’s going to be so much fun!! I can’t wait to read about it as you post! :) Happy New Year!!

    I want to stop putting pressure on myself to grow my blog back to its former size (I changed the name and address and went anonymous, so had to start over). I just need to keep reminding myself why I blog – to meet and connect with different people, and write regularly, not to have a big list of people who I don’t have time to visit. It’s hard not to feel discouraged sometimes, but like you said, this is supposed to be fun!
