glasgow and kirk yetholm, scotland

We booked our hotel in Glasgow solely based on the fact that it had a huge swimming pool and jacuzzi, and the one night we were there, it was closed for maintenance. To make up for the lack of swimming/relaxing that took place this weekend, we found a chocolate factory down the street. My iced mocha was delicious {chocolatey heaven, really} and because of the experience, I firmly believe that all coffee drinks should have thick chocolate syrup floating in them.

We also did some sightseeing around the city that didn’t involve chocolate, of course. We walked around the Glasgow School of Art, took a tour of the Tenement House and enjoyed the architecture. There’s something about the old-world charm and intricate details. Every time we’re exploring a new European city, I fall in love with all of the old buildings.

After our stay in Glasgow, we headed South to Kirk Yeholm to camp and help celebrate our friend’s father’s 70th birthday. It was a massive party and we were two of three Americans there, so it was fun to see how the Scots get down. They had plenty of wine, beer and scotch {of course}, and the good included some of favorites — scotch eggs and pork pies.

Whenever we’re walking around our neighborhood or traveling through the United Kingdom, we try to count how many Mini Coopers we see on the streets. I think they’re adorable and it’s fun to see how many different colors and designs are floating around. Because we drove so far, we saw many. Maybe someday we’ll own one!

So funny about the mini coopers.. I just moved to the UK from Boston and I cannot believe how ordinary they are over here! At home if I saw one I would think it was so cool! Hope you enjoyed Glasgow!

Lame about the pool! But I love chocolate, so it’s a pretty good trade off. ;]
