the beginning

Hi, I’m Rachel! Thanks for stopping by. I decided to start this online journal to document my adventures as a newlywed, expat and lover of travel.

My husband Brandon and I met in Washington, DC and married in August 2011 in my Midwestern hometown. Brandon was offered the opportunity to move abroad for his job so we agreed to give it a shot and shortly after the honeymoon, we put all of our belongings in a small storage unit in Virginia and headed across the pond to our new home in Aberdeen, Scotland. We have been extremely grateful for this experience because it has allowed us to travel all over Europe {and even Africa} and learn more about ourselves as individuals and as a couple, too. After our stay in the United Kingdom, we will be moving around the United States with our first stop being Phoenix, Arizona. We are always preparing for our next adventure!

Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to introduce yourselves in the comments section below. I love meeting fellow expats, newlyweds, foodies and travel addicts!

I just found your blog. I too moved from the states to the UK right after getting married! I haven’t ever been to Aberdeen, but my husband and I have been to Scotland several times in the last couple of years and can’t get enough. Can’t wait to check out more of your blog!

    Hey Rachel,

Can I ask what your husband does? I’m curious because I got married in March and next year my husband is planning on being a traveling PA. I’m trying to find fellow ‘wife travelers’ so when the time comes I can ask questions =)
