if you really knew me

I first saw the “if you really knew me” post on one of my favorite blogs and since then it’s been popping up everywhere. I thought it would be a great introduction, so here we go.

If you really knew me…

You’d know that I had no idea what I wanted to major in when I was in college. I went from meteorology to health care to journalism to chemisty {with a few more in between} and finally settled on political science. Then I graduated and moved to Washington, DC.

You’d know that I yearn to be the crazy cat/dog lady {minus the crazy part} but my husband won’t let me. When I was younger, I would bring animals home, hide them and take care of them in my bedroom {my parents always let me keep them when they inevitably found out}. We only have one dog now, but I’m trying to talk Brandon into adopting a shelter pup when we move to Arizona.

You’d know that I’m slowly turning into a hypochondriac… because of WebMD. Does this happen to anyone else? Seriously, it’s my worst nightmare.

You’d know that I can play the tenor saxophone… and that the instrument is the size of me. I also dabble on the piano {I took lessons when I was younger} but can only play Christmas songs now.

You’d know that I love photography but I still don’t know enough to feel completely comfortable. My goal is to learn as much as possible before our Mediterranean cruise {in 10 days!} so I can take beautiful photos.

You’d know that it took me five months to finally start a blog because I was nervous about sharing my life with everyone.

You’d know that I got “phone neck” {I made that term up} from talking to my best friend on the phone too long in middle school. I woke up the next morning and could barely move because my neck was painful and stiff. The doctor told me I had to wear a neck brace… I hid it in my locker after I got off the school bus every day.

You’d know that the weather in Scotland is my biggest pet peeve. Clouds, rain, rain and more rain.

You’d know that I’m a night owl and I find it amusing to talk to my husband in his sleep. It usually works for a while until he realizes what’s going on and gets angry. Two nights ago I asked him a question about packing for our trip and he started rattling off Olympic stats. Usually his sentences don’t make any sense whatsoever.

You’d know that I’m addicted to travel and sometimes the husband and I take a trip every weekend of the month. Get ready for some travel posts!

Thanks for sharing! I understand where you are coming from the blog, it took me three years!

I’m glad you started yours! I love seeing your cute outfits.

Loved reading this! I was the same with blogging; I started many blogs and then deleted them because I didn’t like them or didn’t want people reading it. I’m also the EXACT same way with WebMD. It’s a brilliant yet terrifying resource lol!

So fun getting to know you!

Ha, Brandon hates when I use WebMD. One symptom leads to another symptom I just happen to realize I have… which always leads to a horrific, debilitating disease.

Um, your blog is adorable!! I’m a new follower. I’ve been meaning to do this post as well but haven’t yet! Seems like we have a lot in common–WebMD always makes me think that I’m dying, and I am a night owl who also loves to hear my husband sleeptalk! It’s hilarious.

Ha, when my husband saw this post he had no idea that I was trying to talk to him in his sleep a few nights ago. He gets mad but doesn’t remember the morning after! Perfect!

Taking a trip every weekend of the month sounds so awesome!! But I don’t think I’d ever be able to convince my husband to do that much traveling. I like it too. If only it wasn’t so expensive… :P

We’re in the UK for a limited amount of time so we’ve been trying to cram everything in. When we’re back in the States we won’t be traveling as much and I think I’m fine with that. :)

This is a great post! I think it’s a fabulous idea so others can know a few fun facts about you.
I actually started my blog under a different URL then changed it. I’m very indecisive and always feel like revamping things in my life…especially my blog (drives my husband crazy because he’s my designer :))

Rachel, I just love your blog! I think I have said it before, but it deserves a second time. I love this post and am with you on lots, including mostly being able to play christmas songs on the piano now. I guess if you are only going to be able to remember a few those are the best.
